Nun Monkton school has been congratulated by the Local Authority on our pupil achievement at KS2. We are all very proud of our Year 6 leavers who all achieved expected progress in reading, writing and mathematics, that’s 100%. This is a great accomplishment as the national average is 80%.
We also have another great achievement in 2015 with 100% of pupils reaching or exceeding the pass mark in the phonics screening check in Year 1 in contrast to the national average of 77%. This makes Nun Monkton in the top two per cent of all primary schools in the country when it comes to teaching its youngest children how to read and write. We are extremely proud to be one of the best in the country.
Nun Monkton aims for the children in our care to become independent, self-disciplined, caring and tolerant young people. We hope to inspire them to have a love of learning and to work hard in order to make good progress and reach their full potential.
We weave SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education) into the school life and the curriculum which ensures all children are aware of the history and values of Britain and will therefore prepare them for life in modern Britain. Our curriculum also embeds the Montessori ethos, especially in Reception.
With our highly skilled and dedicated staff team we are committed to providing a high standard of education for all our children. We aim to provide a stimulating and relevant curriculum within a positive learning environment, based on mutual respect and trust.
Nun Monkton School believes we are ‘educating for life’.
Our website can only begin to give you an idea of what our school is like. We would be delighted to meet you and your child and provide you with an opportunity to come and see us at work.
